Chef Roberto Rosa has been involved in the restaurant business for decades, operating restaurants in Boston and now—thanks to the efforts of Chef Roberto Rosa and staff—three in Houston. Antonia’s Italian Ristorante, has locations in Katy, Cypress and Sugar Land.
"Being in the business my whole life, I know what it takes, "Rosa said.” We are careful to follow the trends of the area. It’s still family oriented service and not fine dining. It is a family owned restaurant, and we take care to get to know our customers by name and tread them as guests.”
After moving to Katy and opening the first Antonia’s location in 2007, Rosa said he fell in love with the close knit community. With its accelerating expansions and lack of gourmet restaurants, he said he saw Cypress as a similar market, and about four years opened the location off Hwy.290 and Fry Road.
We owe much of our business to the churches and school,” Chef Rosa said. “We’ve got all these developments around us. All the new housing brings a good amount of foot traffic.”
Specializing in the rich, complex flavors of northern Italy, the menu at Antonia’s Italian Restaurant now Azul Italian Kitchen in Cypress has a breadth of recognizable dishes and also experiments with local fare to bring distinctive offerings to the area chef Rosa said it is important for him to continue offering new dishes for his patrons.
“We try to update the menu at minimum chef Rosa said.
The restaurant wine list provides old and new world options with traditional Chiantis and Tuscan wines alongside California Cabernets and Oregon Pinot Noirs. Wine service is also available by the glass or by the carafe. Once a month Chef Rosa brings in winemakers from around the world to offer perfected wine and food pairing at each of his restaurants
“we do wine dinners every three months or so, although guest at Azul Italian Kitchen will not find table cloths, fancy folded linens or inflated prices, the food is prepared in a style fitting for fine-dining establishment . Chef Rosa and his staff have worked to keep the atmosphere casual while providing and elegant menu and wine list. Regular customers return for the weekly specials as a “Wine down Wednesdays” and Ladies Nights on Thursdays ‘’. With the summer coming on, the Outdoor seating is perfect for Happy Hour every day from 2-6 p.m. or after dinner cocktail by the Fire Pit. The restaurant often host private parties in its private dining room capable of seating up to 55 people as well as in main dining, which can seat as many as 85 people.
